Bridging the gap between fiction and fact, myth and truth, indifference and compassion, fear and love
The Rescue Manager is responsible for overseeing all portfolios of the rescue pillar. This includes strategic work, team training and planning, and implementation of policies and protocols.
Ideally this person needs to have a great deal of dingo knowledge as well as leadership skills to keep the rescue team moving forward.
Relinquishment is where we take on dingoes young and old who find themselves in situations where our help is needed. This ranges from wild born orphans to abandoned adults in shelters. The dingoes that we bring into care either reside at our beautiful sanctuary or in foster care with our dedicated volunteers.
We have a team of foster carers busy behind the scenes with their foster dingoes. Giving the animals that we take into care much needed support. Our foster carers take on dingoes of all ages and give them a place of safety to learn about love and trust. They work with the dingoes, helping with their confidence and teaching them what it means to be part of a loving home. In many situations foster care is the difference between life or death for these animals. The more foster carers we have the more dingoes we can save.
Adoption is where we match applicants with a suitable dingo. We have a very high success rate with our rehoming and it is something that we are so proud of. Seeing our beautiful dingoes find a happy family where they are safe and loved is amazing. We maintain a very close relationship with our adopters and get regular updates on how the dingo is going. It is a joy to see them on their adventures and getting up-to mischief with their new families.
Our Dingo Displacement Prevention Program assists over 100 dingoes per year from becoming abandoned in pounds and shelters. This program focuses largely on education and advocation for the species, giving dingo owners the tools and knowledge that they need to work in harmony with their dingo companions. Ensuring their happiness and success within the domestic environment.
We have rehabilitation programs for every dingo that comes into our care. This means providing them with support and confidence to make living in a domestic environment possible and successful. Rehabilitation also extends to the health of all of our dingoes. Particularly the wild born orphans. Their physical condition when they first come in is heart breaking. Riddled with parasites, ticks and mites and suffering horrendous injuries. Most of them close to death upon arrival. Bringing them back from that and watching them grow into healthy young dingoes is amazing. Rehabilitation can take anywhere from 6-12 months for the wild borns depending on what state they were found in.
Partnerships are essential to the rescue pillar. These partnerships give us support and allow us to continue our life saving initiatives.
Ranging from dingo sponsorship through to vet care and medical supplies.
Our partnerships even include adopters who usually stay on as foster carers or volunteers, simply because we have shared our vision and passion with them and they want to do more to get involved.
